Overview of Natural Refrigerants
Natural (or 'Not in Kind') refrigerants have zero ozone depleting potential and very low global warming potential. These products were used before the 1950s prior to fluorocarbon production and are now being used more extensively due to their low impact on the environment.
BOC is the UK's leading supplier of natural refrigerants to the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and has a wealth of experience and expertise in environmentally friendly refrigerants.
Natural refrigerants are chemicals which occur in nature's bio-chemical processes. They do not deplete the ozone layer and make negligible (or zero in the case of R-717 ammonia) contribution to global warming. Their high efficiency means they make a much lower, indirect contribution to global warming than many synthetic refrigerants. The whole range BOC offers a greater choice of refrigerant than ever before
Traditional fluorocarbons - like the single product R134a or HFC blends.
More environmentally benign natural fluids - such as CARE™ 10, CARE 40 and the CARE 30 blend; the popular R-717 (ammonia), which has been in use for over 70 years, or the increasingly favoured R-744 (carbon dioxide). Making the choice A number of factors will influence your choice of refrigerant. Natural refrigerants from BOC can satisfy many criteria:
