TIG RodsTIG rods available for a range of materials including aluminium, carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, copper alloys, nickel alloys and titanium. Although rods are produced for all these materials the range of compositions are sometimes limited. Rods are produced in a range of sizes from 1.2 to 4mm, although all diameters are not available for all materials. The most common sizes are between 1.6 and 3.2mm diameter. The length of a rod is typically one metre. TIG rods are supplied in a number of different ways from small packs having only a few rods present, to large packs containing typically between 2.5 and 5kg. As a TIG rod is basically a solid wire they are less susceptible to contamination than other consumable types but care most be taken to ensure they are stored in a clean, dry and if possible temperature controlled environment.
